Environmental Sustainability Policy

This Environmental Sustainability Policy formalises our commitment to supporting the principles of environmental sustainability and recognises that a sustainable environment is central to our lives and our work.

The aim of our Environmental Sustainability Policy is to:

  • Implement environmental actions within the company.
  • Monitor the environmental actions and improvements internally.
  • Communicate environmental initiatives internally and externally.


This policy and associated procedures apply to all directors, staff and contractors working for the company.

COVERBOARD respects our relationship with the natural environment and its ecosystems. Our commitment to protecting the natural environment and its ecosystems, has led us to adopt the FSC Global Environmental Standards, as defined by FSC-POL-01-004. We acknowledge the adverse impacts that human activity can impose and take actions to prevent degradation of those natural systems, as well as we support the environmentally suitable, socially beneficial and financially viable forest management.

COVERBOARD commits to the following principles and practices:

  • Monitoring and managing our environmental performance and working towards targets set to reduce adverse impacts.
  • Complying with relevant European and Greek Environmental Policies, Practices, Regulations and Legislation, and industry-specific legislations.
  • Reducing the consumption of natural resources in daily operations, including water, paper and energy.
  • Maximising the recycling of resources.
  • Disposing of waste appropriately.
  • Committing to the principles of preventing pollution to the environment and continual improvement.
  • Minimising pollution by taking steps to limit carbon emissions resulting from vehicle and air travel.
  • Always monitoring candidate suppliers in terms of their environmental policies and practices, as well as, where possible, encouraging existing suppliers to meet high standards of environmental performance.
  • Communicating this policy to all employees, contractors and other stakeholders, as well as making this policy available to the general public.
  • Reviewing this policy annually and measuring targets and performance as part of that review.

COVERBOARD also takes every possible measure to ensure that the company is not involved directly or indirectly in any of the following activities:

  • Illegal logging, or trading of illegal timber and forest products.
  • Infringement of Human Rights in the forestry sector.
  • Destruction of value retention in the forestry sector.
  • Significant conversion of forests to plantations for non-forest exploitation.
  • Introduction of genetically modified organisms in the forestry sector.
  • Violation of the basic conventions of the ILO, as defined in the Declaration of the ILO on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, 1998.


This Environmental Sustainability Policy is the responsibility of the Management of COVERBOARD. This policy was lasted updated in February of 2024 and will be review in February of 2025.
